"Inches make champions" – Vince Lombardi

"Binge Eating Disorder is the most common eating disorder in the U.S."

According to the Binge Eating Disorder Association or BEDA (www.bedaonline.com), Binge Eating Disorder is the most common eating disorder in the U.S. "It affects more than eight million men and women and accounts for three times the number of those diagnosed with Anorexia and Bulimia together. "

This new staggering information only confirms the overwhelming need for greater support and assistance for those who are living with, and attempting to conquer, their eating disorder.

Conquering all of your out-of-control eating habits and binge eating may seem impossible; however, Dr. Cynthia Bulik, the Director of the University of North Carolina Eating Disorders Program and renowned expert on binge eating, has written an excellent book called Crave: Why You Binge Eat and How to Stop (www.cravethebook.com) that provides the most current information available on why you are not just lacking willpower if you have the disorder, and provides effective strategies on  recognizing and responding to the triggers that set you off on a binge.

Crave is written in plain language that is both respectful and supportive, and provides simple techniques that will help you to "reset" behaviours and responses to your cravings. I am inspired to know that there are champions like Dr. Bulik who are working diligently to research, teach and treat on this emotionally agonizing, and what can be physically life-threatening, complex disorder.
